If this wasn’t enough deterrent to stop picking on casuals, players who are killed while being flagged as a criminal receive a serious stat debuff on death, effectively putting an end to their “reign of terror” for a few hours at least. Players who continue to kill others will be flagged as criminals, resulting in their location being marked on the map, effectively inviting other players to hunt them down and administer justice without recompense, in addition to NPCs attacking on sight for the duration of the criminal status.

PvP in Bless Unleashed is a lot of fun, but there are drawbacks to being a homicidal maniac when attacking a low-level player, higher-level players will receive a serious stat nerf compared to engaging in a fair fight, in addition to being given a red username, warning all players nearby that you are not to be trusted. Yes, once a player reaches level 30, they can opt into open-world PvP. I wish Varg could play as more than just berserkers they are a unique race in Bless and one I had hoped the developers would capitalize on.

I will say this, Bless Unleashed offers a full English translation, with mostly accurate sentence structure, something that Bless Online lacked, suffering from a “google translate-esque” English translation for the duration of its short life, and while not brilliant, the content is not unbearable, and fans of unique fantasy settings will enjoy getting to know more about the world of Lumios and its inhabitants. Like most MMORPG, Bless unleashed offers players a substantial amount of quest content, and while it is miles ahead of the narrative content offered by Bless Online or Black Desert at launch, it is weak compared to titles such as Elder Scrolls Online and World of Warcraft. While this system is not better than World of Warcraft’s passive tanking mechanics in function, it is more enjoyable in execution. I am a fan of the tanking mechanics, which allows players to manually raise their shield to stop incoming attacks, allowing skilled players to carefully manage their stamina and keep elite enemies engaged for longer, giving the DPS and Healers room to do their job. While fans of traditional MMORPGs will find the lack of active abilities disappointing, the final product is rather smooth, with combat that feels both weighty and impactful. Unfortunately, being a free-to-play title means that some RNG elements have been shoehorned into this system, resulting in players feeling compelled to purchase upgrades to avoid losing too much progress and requiring them to farm for an even longer period to get back to where they previously were, let alone to better their gear.īless Unleashed has continually bled players since its launch in August 2021, a trend which saw it lose as much as 54% of its player base in just 30 days.īless Unleashed combat was clearly designed with a controller in mind and, as such, combines a small selection of active abilities with combo-orientated action combat.

One of my favourite aspects of crafting in Bless Unleashed is the ability to salvage armour and weapons for artefact cores, which are then used to enhance gear we have seen a similar system to this work well in Tera. Crafting.Ĭrafting in Bless Unleashed is slightly different to a traditional mmorpg while it shares similarities with multiple other MMORPG, it is decidedly unique in the way it combines these elements. If a successful “Bless MMORPG” was going to be a thing, it would not have died eight times in ten years.
